Meet Michelle
Michelle Scroggie is a Washington-based flutist who has enjoyed a great deal of diversity in her career. Having dedicated over 15 years to teaching flute students of all ages and skill levels, Michelle is passionate about helping musicians develop both technical excellence and a lifelong love of music. Her strongest belief is that music is for anyone.
Before opening a private studio in Bellevue, Michelle spent 10 years teaching music in public schools in Central Texas. Her teaching philosophy focuses on helping each student build confidence, achieve their personal goals, and discover their own musical voice.
As a performer, Michelle has held the positions of Piccolo and Principal Flute with the Symphony of the Hills. She has performed with groups around the Austin area, including Density512 in their inaugural year. Michelle has performed at the National Flute Association Convention, and was a finalist for the Collegiate Flute Choir for the NFA.
Michelle earned her Master of Music Degree in Flute Performance from the University of Alabama and her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Oklahoma State University. Her mentors include Dr. Diane Boyd Schulz, Dr. Virginia Broffitt Kunzer, and Dr. Conor Nelson.
